SAFEGUARDING & WELFARE

OUR COMMITMENT

Ashton Football Club is committed to ensuring all necessary steps are taken to protect children and young people who participate in football at all levels.

The club is backed by the FA in the belief that all young people have the right to participate in football in an enjoyable and safe environment and be protected from abuse.

Our Safeguarding and Welfare officer is Adam Leewarden. As well as being a parent of one of the girls playing for the club, Adam is also our designated Child Welfare Officer for the club.

Any concerns, suspicions, or allegations of abuse will be taken seriously and responded to swiftly and appropriately.

If you have any concerns at all, whether you are a player, parent, manager, or friend, please get in touch today.

Any conversations or information provided will be dealt with in an appropriate and confidential way.

RAISE A CONCERN

If you have a concern about the welfare of a Child or Young Person or about an adult’s behaviour towards a child or young person, what would you do?

In the first instance, you should highlight this to your team manager or our Safeguarding & Welfare Officer.

If this is not appropriate, then you can contact the Somerset FA’s designated Safeguarding Officer.

FA’s whistle blowing policy

Do you know what the FA’s whistle blowing policy is?

Whistle-blowing can be used as an early warning system or when it’s recognised that appropriate actions have not been taken.

This approach or policy is adopted in many different walks of life. It is about revealing and raising concerns over misconduct or malpractice within an organisation or within an independent structure associated with it. Please use the contact information provided above.

Please ensure you speak with your child or young person about who to speak to if they have any Safeguarding concerns. There is also plenty of guidance on the GFA website

Parents can also complete the FREE Safeguarding For All course which can be found here.
